I found NLP in 1996 when I hit a point in my career that required me to do formal public speaking or give up any possibility of advancement. At the time I was working for a high tech company in the Bay Area. I was terrified to get up in front of my peers and managers. I pulled out my phone book and started looking for answers. I found a listing for a Business Coach in Santa Cruz. I had serious doubts that anyone could really help me. In one hour this coach moved me from terrified to polished. Two days after that appointment, I gave the best presentation of my life. My audience wasn’t only engaged in what I had to say– I sold them on my ideas. Two days after that, I was back in my coach’s office wanting to know what else she could do. I was hooked. I wanted to know how to do that kind of magic and I have been a student of NLP ever since.
